Candidate endorsement procedure:

1. The candidate needs to apply for National DFA endorsement on the DFALink website. This allows people to view the candidate, read about them, and enter commentary online using DFALink.

2. The candidate should attend a regular DFA Tampa Bay meeting to address the group and answer any questions. In some situations, due to time or other constraints, the candidate may attend a DFA Tampa Bay Steering Committee instead.

3. After a candidate has applied, and has addressed the group as described above, the list of candidates will be discussed and voted upon at the next steering committee meeting. Anyone who wishes to have input into a specific endorsement discussion is invited to attend the next DFA Tampa Bay steering committee meeting to participate. Discussion time is limited to one hour. Candidates, or their committee people, may not be present for the discussion or vote.

4. If the candidate is endorsed by DFA Tampa Bay, such an endorsement will be specified by a DFA Tampa Bay organizer through the DFALink system, and will appear afterward on the DFALInk website.

In general, DFA Tampa Bay will endorse candidates whose views and track record reflect progressive values and fiscal responsibility. We will not endorse a candidate simply because he or she is the only Democrat in the race.
