Today, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) released its fourth annual report on the most corrupt members of Congress and my Republican opponent, Ken Calvert (CA 44 CD) has made the list for the third year in a row. CREW cites Calvert’s practice of earmarking for personal financial benefit, earmarking for clients of the disgraced and disbanded lobbying firm Copeland Lowery, and his illegal purchase of a parcel of public land in his district’s Jurupa area. Calvert also holds the distinction of being one of twelve on the list who is under investigation and the only one named whose constituents recently voted overwhelmingly to take recoup land that was sold to him illegally through the use of eminent domain.
I actually have a chance of winning this seat – I've been elected to local office five times within the district and I consistently win in very Republican areas because people who know me, trust me to serve their interests rather than my own.
But in order for me to win this race, I need your help and I need it now! Please go out to my website www.hedrickforcongress.com and volunteer to make calls to voters or to walk precincts.
Without your help, Calvert will be around to make CREW's list again next year.
Let’s not allow that to happen!
- (Calitics) Democracy For America endorses Bill Hedrick (CA-44)
By Susan Rowe on Sep 11, 2008 10:53 PM EDTCampaign Update
CA-46: Debbie Cook has been endorsed by DFA (Democracy for America). Jim Dean, the Chair of DFA, said in a statement, "Debbie Cook has been a grassroots champion for over 20 years and has a proven record of success in the private sector and as a public servant ... Debbie Cook is running because she's a committed advocate and activist who fights for her constituents and delivers results."
In the past, DFA has been able to move some resources into districts, so we'll see if they're going that route in this race. DFA has also recently endorsed Bill Hedrick (CA-44). [...]
